Directions: From McAllen, take Expressway 83 E to Alamo, exit S on FM 907. Continue on Farm Road 907 until it ends, then turn E (left) onto U.S. Highway 281. Proceed 0.5 mile E to refuge entrance.
Primary Wildlife: Tropical species of birds, plants, and other wildlife. Ocelot, chachalacas, kiskadee flycatcher, black-bellied whistling duck, and white-winged doves.
Habitat: 2,088 acres of subtropical riparian woodland.
Recreation and Education: Bird-watching, nature photography, and hiking on designated trails, and interpretive tram tours (January to early May).
Special Note: Refuge has several State champion trees, and several State and federally listed species.
