Discovering the Joys of Dogsledding in the Canadian Wilderness

Returning Home

During the day, we went out and explored the country, coming back to camp in the early afternoon. We went miles and miles, and never saw a soul. We tried snowshoeing in the woods, and did some skiing along the trails. They took very good care of us, and it was wonderful fun!

There is no sport like dogsledding. To become a part of a smooth-running team, slipping quietly through a serene and beautiful wilderness, is an unforgettable experience.

It's now the end of our trip, and the approaches to the kennel can be seen in the distance. Both Allison and I have "Gee'd" and "Haw'ed", and confirmed that "Mush!" doesn't work (but "Go!" does). We've pushed, and pulled, and fallen in the snow, and had a lovely time. Every dog is now a lifelong friend. We'll have to try our own camping trip soon, our own sojourn in the Near North.

I can't wait for next winter.
