My husband's parents once claimed he tried to kill them; he had sent them motoring across the highest suspension bridge in the world. Royal Gorge Bridge hangs a heady 1,053 feet above the raging Arkansas River. Fear of heights? Don't go there. For views, it's breathtaking. Fortunately, you can also experience the gorge via railroad, or by raft thanks to numerous outfitters. Royal Gorge Route Railroad operates daily; ask about wine and dinner trains and a train/rafting combo. Wine lovers should also visit the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. Inside the park, ride the dizzying aerial tram, carousel, burros, covered wagons, and incline railway, or take in the petting zoo, wildlife park, and shows (some attractions seasonal).
