Florida Fishing Regions

Sarasota County

Myakka River
Beautiful river and lake fishing are offered by this "wild and scenic" system. Access to Upper Myakka Lake with its good bass and panfish action is available at the state park east of I-75 off SR 72, east of Sarasota. The park also has canoe rentals and bank and bridge fishing access. Angling is very good at the dam located at the south end of the lake. Downstream of the park, boats and canoes can access the river from private fish camps off River Road (I-75 exit).

Twin Lakes Park
Near Sarasota, abundant bank fishing is available at this park located off SR 72 just east of I-75, and Ackerman Park located off Fruitville Road, also just east of I75. Largemouth and sunshine bass, bream and catfish angling can be excellent in these areas.
