Raft a Swedish River
By Bertil Lintner
Bring your straw hat and play like Tom Sawyer while you float down the Klardlven river on a ready-built wooden raft. Head to the western province of Vdrmland and get ready for the longest raft journey in Scandinavia. As you float down the Klardlven at one mile an hour, you'll see a wide range of wildlife—from the wolverine, wolf, and lynx, to the marten and bear—and Scandinavian flora, from the mountain birch to the dwarf pine.
The trip will take you 68 miles downriver, through 63 serpentine bends, and the wilderness of Vdrmland, from the mouth of lake Vingdng in the north, to Edebdcksdngen in the south. Drifters can venture ashore for accommodations or anchor rafts on the banks of the river.
