The Trishuli River
(Sherpa)

The Trishuli, which flows down from the Langtang region north of Kathmandu, is the river travelers see out their bus window during the first half of the trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara. But just because the Trishuli isn't a wilderness experience doesn't mean it isn't a lot of fun. Besides, when you're in the middle of a Class IV rapid digging your paddle into roiling whitewater, you won't even notice the buses and trucks rumbling by on the road above. This is the closest rafting river to Kathmandu, and for this reason has long been the most popular rafting river in the country. One- and two-day trips are possible on the Trishuli, and most people opting for the two-day trips do so in conjunction with a trip to Royal Chitwan National Park.
