The first time I visited the city of Quebec, I felt like a time traveler. Everyone spoke French, and the city resembled what I imagined a medieval village in France to look like. Its walled ramparts, historic sites, and museums bring to life such events as the battle between the British and the French on the Plains of Abraham.

This unique North American city remains one that can be truly appreciated only on foot. Wander among the granite houses of the Upper Town and view the imposing spires of the Chateau Frontenac (a luxury-class Fairmont hotel actually built in the 19th century) to let Quebec weave its magic. Meander through the beautifully restored Lower Town for complete immersion.
