Lake Tarpon
Known as the "Jewel of Pinellas County," this 2,500-acre Fish Management Area is famous for excellent fishing. Bass and bluegill are caught throughout the year and crappie fishing is popular during the winter. Many trophy-size bass are caught and released in Tarpon. Two county parks (off US Hwy. 19 and CR 611) provide ample boat ramps, fishing piers and bank access. Fish attractors have been placed in the lake to concentrate fish for improved angling success.

Lake Seminole
Located in densely-populated St. Petersburg, this 700-acre Fish Management Area suffers from poor water quality and aquatic vegetation problems. Big bass are caught with regularity; however, anglers complain about inconsistent success for bass and panfish. This may change as a multi-agency task force is working to improve the quality of this lake. The county park off Park Blvd. offers boat, pier and bank access to this lake. Three small ponds are also available within the park for bank fishing.

Urban Fishing Sites
Small ponds within Freedom Lake (on 46th Street near corner of 49th Street and US Hwy. 19) are managed to provide excellent fishing for bream and catfish. Special management regulations apply and are posted at each site. Fishing clinics and derbies are held. Contact the Regional Office in Lakeland at (813) 648-3202 for additional information.
