Track Tigers

Sitting high on the back of an elephant, you glide silently through the jungle in search of an elusive royal Bengal tiger. And Corbett National Park in the Himalayan foothills of northern India is the place to do it. Tigers have come under pressure in recent years from poaching, but in Corbett National Park you stand a good chance of a sighting, especially if you can stay for a few days. During the day you can secret yourself unobtrusively in one of the observation posts and keep a lookout for animals. Elephant rides depart daily at sunrise and sunset. You can book basic accommodations in Forest Rest Houses within the reserve; you'll find more upmarket places just outside.
