Here's a horse of a different color: Hidden Creek Ranch. To find it, go to the end of the road—and keep going-deep into the heart of Idaho's Panhandle National Forest. After a scenic 45-minute drive south out of Coeur d'Alene, you'll find yourself surrounded by 225,000 acres of wilderness. You'll also be at the doorstep of a luxury dude ranch. Here you and your family can hike a Native American Medicine Trail with a trained naturalist, boat, fly-fish, take in some whitewater rafting, share a seven-course candlelight dinner—the list goes on and on. Of course they've got horses of every size and color for every kind of rider, and an endless wilderness to explore. For a change of pace, there's golf, swimming, hayrides, and luxury log cabins where you'll get the best shut-eye you've had in years.

Tucked away on the western slope of the Grand Tetons, this dude ranch has it all: a suitable horse and trail for everyone, float trips down the Snake River, guided fishing, golf, swimming, hot tubs, sauna, and a program for the kids (from infants on up!) that'll keep wide smiles on their faces. If the Targhee National Forest isn't enough wilderness, the Jedediah Smith Wilderness Area is just down the road a piece. Of course, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are but a short, spectacular drive away.
