Florida Fishing Regions

Lee County

Caloosahatchee River
This channelized waterway connects Lake Okeechobee to Charlotte Harbor and has high boat traffic. Boat access is available at eight locations and limited bank fishing is available at Moore Haven, La Belle and Alva. The waterway is controlled by locks. Fishing can be good with a mixture of marine and freshwater fish caught.

Cape Coral Canals
Good bass and bream fishing can be found in this extensive canal system. Boat access is limited to a ramp located off Skyline Blvd. and SW 15th Street in Cape Coral. A map (available at local stores) is recommended. Bank access is available at Kennedy Park and along city right-of-ways.

Lakes Park
A beautiful park near Fort Myers, west of US Hwy. 41, is managed by Lee County and provides bank, pier and small boat fishing (canoes and paddle boats are available for rent). Good fishing for bass, bluegill, and catfish.

Drainage Ditches
Anglers should not overlook numerous drainage ditches that parallel most roads in Lee and Charlotte counties. During the rainy season, strong flow through these ditches concentrates bass and bream for excellent success.
