Biking the Kettle Valley Railway route
Train hard: Ride across the Myrna Canyon trestles

Up steep switchbacks and across trestles: the Kettle Valley Railway Route, converted to from train tracks to bike trails, is one of the most challenging mountain biking routes in western Canada. The most scenic and exciting section of the route is from Naramata, north of Penticton, along the wine-grape-growing slopes of Lake Okanagan, up switchbacks to Chute Lake and then across 17 trestles as the route traverses precipitous Myrna Canyon. The entire mountain bike route from Naramata to Westbridge in the Kettle Valley is 108 miles, and takes from three to five days.

You can rent mountain bikes from shops in Penticton or Kelowna, or join a guided trip that provides tents and provisions for the four-day expedition.
