Monterey Bay

Northern California has some of the best mountain biking terrain in the country. From glacial peaks to coastal hills, from wide-open valleys to desert canyons and forested foothills, this region contains a variety of trails. Tame bike paths, rolling fire trails, and challenging single-tracks combine to make Northern California a paradise for mountain bikers of all abilities. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced fat-tire buffs will find a plethora of trails to choose from, many within the borders of recreation areas and county, state, and national forests.

In particular, south of"The City", fire trails weave in and out of the county and state parks as far south as Monterey. The following four trails are around San Jose and Santa Cruz.
