Northern Vermont & Lake Champlain - Basecamps

Burlington
Vermont goes as urban as it can in this northwestern city. Sitting on the bank of Lake Champlain, amidst a gentle agricultural landscape, Burlington seems custom-designed for outdoor action. Among its attractions: Adirondack State Park, Mississquoi National Wildlife Refuge, the Winnooski, the Lamoille and Missisquoi rivers, and the great Lake Champlain, and ready access to New England's best ski resorts.

Stowe
For a piece of what is known to be quintessential New England combined with some of the best skiing around, head to Stowe. This small town, which lies at the northern tip of the Green Mountain range, prides itself on its presentation and welcoming nature, but don't expect the same from the area's slopes. Situated on and around Vermont's highest peak, Stowe delivers demanding terrain.

Montpelier
Rich in both outdoor resources and man-made charms, this quaint capital city offers both easy access to well-know natural treasure like C.C. Putnam SF, Green Mountains NF, as well as creature comforts like indie-film theatres and a culinary institute—perfect for a day of relaxing off the trail.

Sugarbush & Mad River
Time stands still here at this Vermont ski town. Trails are narrow and laid out to take advantage of the fall line, and retain snow. Together with Sugarbush, the entire Mad River Valley offers vast chocie in superb dining, and the quintessential Vermont inn lodging and shopping.
