Directions: Exit Interstate 5, 14 miles N of Vancouver at Ridgefield Exit 14, then drive 3 miles W. Refuge entrances located just N and S of Ridgefield city limits. Follow signs from town or write for map.
Primary Wildlife: Resting and wintering area for dusky and other subspecies of Canada geese, tundra swans and ducks, primarily American wigeon, mallards, and pintail. Sandhill cranes are fall and spring migrants. The variety of habitats supports a diversity of waterbirds, raptors, shore and songbirds.
Habitat: 4,627 acres of Columbia River floodplain. Some areas flood annually, while others are diked and farmed to produce wildlife food. Habitats include marshes, lakes, woodlands, grass lands, and croplands.
Recreation and Education: Wildlife observation, study, and photography. Self-guided interpretive trail. Environmental education and teacher assistance. Waterfowl hunting. Limited fishing.
