Among the rewards of a visit to Central India are the gorgeous, 1,000-year-old carved stone temples of Khajuraho. The temples are fine examples of Indo-Aryan architecture, but it's the carved decorations on them for which they're truly famous. The temples are spread over a wide area, so hire a bicycle and take a good look around. For those with energy to burn, cycle the 20 miles over to Panna National Park, where you'll find secluded waterfalls, unspoiled forest, and great picnic spots.
