Top Ten India Classic AdventuresGet Rural in Khajuraho
By Hugh Finlay
Among the rewards of a visit to Central India are the gorgeous, 1,000-year-old carved stone temples of Khajuraho. The temples are fine examples of Indo-Aryan architecture, but it's the carved decorations on them for which they're truly famous. The temples are spread over a wide area, so hire a bicycle and take a good look around. For those with energy to burn, cycle the 20 miles over to Panna National Park, where you'll find secluded waterfalls, unspoiled forest, and great picnic spots. Accommodations of all ranges are available. Access is by plane or bus.
