Flower: The half inch, white to pink flowers have distinctive deeper pink veins coursing along the five petals.
Average bloom season: March to May
Leaves and stems: Two leaves grow opposite each other about halfway up a four to twelve-inch stem.
Range in AT states: Georgia to Maine
Most likely AT locations: Between Unicoi Gap and Dicks Creek Gap in Georgia; Pearis and Peters Mountain in southwest Virginia; on the slopes of Mount Greylock in Massachusetts; near Moxie Pond in Maine.
