Latin name: Aquilegia canadensis
Flower: Nodding red and yellow blooms are one to two inches in size with five petals curving upwards as hollow spurs.
Average bloom season: April to July
Leaves and stems: The leaves are compound, divided into three, and grow on a stem one to two feet in height.
Range in AT states: Georgia to Maine
Most likely AT locations: Between Nolichucky River, Tennessee and Damascus, Virginia; on Bald Knob, Bryant Ridge, Catawba Mountain, and Sinking Creek Mountain in central Virginia.
