Latin name: Houstonia caerulea
Flower: Four light blue to almost white petals join together with a slightly yellow center.
Average bloom season: April to late June and early July
Leaves and stems: Leaves are opposite and mostly basal on a two- to eight-inch stem.
Range in AT states: Georgia to Maine
Most likely AT locations: Between Deep Gap and Wallace Gap in North Carolina; on the mountains along the North Carolina/Tennessee border; along the Long Trail in Vermont.
