A Little Romance

Europe is For Lovers - Italy, Greece, and the French Wine Country

Another popular choice for the honeymoon set has long been an extended trip amid the splendors of Europe. It is, after all, the cradle of Western culture, and between appreciating classic architecture, visiting colossal museums, and sampling traditional cuisine, there isn't much time left for even the most ambitious of visiting couples. The problem with this typical itinerary is that it leaves little chance for enjoying the outdoors. The mad dash from one crumbling capitol to the next leaves the impression that Europe has little to offer but cosmopolitan conveniences. Yet this assumption couldn't be further from the truth.

While it's true that the cities offer a glimpse of European cultures, it's the countrysides that allow for full immersion. Whether it's walking, hiking, or biking through the breathtaking scenery and picturesque rural villages, there is no better way to interact with people or appreciate the culture. Just about every country has some form of adventure travel operator that can help plan a vacation, but if we were going to take our pick, the most romantic regions would be Italy, Greece, and the French wine country. These areas are steeped in an old-world charm that can melt the resolve of even the most unromantic of travelers.

Take a bicycle tour through Burgundy, France, which may feature French guides, dinner at three-star restaurants, accommodations in luxurious chateaux, wine tasting in famous vineyards of the region, daily trips through village markets, and constant exposure to the lush rolling countryside of central France.

Of course these suggestions are but a few ways to indulge in the outdoors with your significant other—the best advice we can offer in the ways of love is to get out there and share any experience. The romance is bound to follow.
