Be sure you have current conditions and plan for them. In recent years, warming has generated heavy flood waters along this valley, cutting into trails and carrying away a bridge. Partial ice bridges may remain even in summer and can be very risky, as is trying to traverse the river on foot, carrying packs. Preparation, knowledge and caution are all keys.
