Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery

Directions: 9 miles E of Highway 73, 4 miles S of Indian Pine (Hondah, Arizona).

Primary Function: Culture and distribution of five species of trout to Indian Reservations in Arizona, New Mexico, and southern Colorado.

Habitat: Ponderosa pine woodland bordering on spruce-fir habitat, just beneath the Mogollan Rim.

Recreation and Education: Picnicking and fishing along Williams Creek. Interpretive nature trail and wildlife viewing area. A tribal fishing permit is required. Hatchery tours available.

Special Note: Williams Creek NFH is the center for production of the "threatened" Apache trout, a native trout found only in the White Mountains of Arizona.
