Yosemite is bike friendly, as long as you don't want too much. The Valley has eight miles of bikeways, which is more than most national parks. And if the park management's plan is approved, a greenway will be constructed in the Valley that will add even more. Bikes are also allowed on all park roads, paved and otherwise. However, bikes are not allowed on the trails, and certainly not cross country. If it's down-and-dirty dirt biking you're after, head next door to Inyo.

Rental bikes are available year-round at Yosemite lodge (209-372-1208) and during the summer at Curry Village.
