The Wallowa Mountains

You'll be enchanted by the stately splendor of the Blue Mountains, the rugged grandeur of the Wallowa Mountains, and the spectacular canyon country of the Snake River on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest—close to 2.4 million acres of variety in northeastern Oregon and western Idaho.

Elevations on the National Forest range from 875 feet to 9,845 feet above sea level. Plant life varies from the desert-like country of Hells Canyon to the alpine vegetation of the Eagle Cap Wilderness and Seven Devils Mountains. Weather patterns change from year to year, but generally winters are cold and snowy; spring and fall are mild; and summers are hot and dry. Opportunities for mountain biking abound in this splendid country and can be accessed below by Ranger District.
