Three miles east of Soda Springs Dam, at milepost 59, you'll find a half-mile trail that will take you to the Toketee Falls. A platform at the end of the trail allows you to behold the 80-foot falls as it plummets over a sheer wall of basalt. Not high enough for you? Check out Watson Falls. At 272 feet it is Oregon's third highest waterfall (who exactly goes around measuring these things?) The falls is located on Highway 138 at milepost 61.
The Umpqua Lighthouse State Park is the site of Oregon's first coastal lighthouse. It was commissioned on the north spit of the river in 1857, but collapsed in 1861 due to the erosion of sand beneath the structure. The current lighthouse, identical in design to the previous one, was illuminated in 1894.
Visit the indigo-blue waters of Crater Lake, formed by the violent eruption and collapse of the 12,000-foot Mount Mazama. The resulting caldera cradles the seventh deepest lake in the world. Crater Lake National Park features a 33-mile rim drive as well as boat rides to Phantom Ship Rock and Wizard Island.
Nearby towns include Steamboat, Cottage Grove, Union Creek, and Roseburg. The town of Roseburg is about 165 miles south of Portland and 60 miles south of Eugene.
