Hidden Places:
Louse Camp: Offers a secluded and tranquil setting to picnic for the day and spend time enjoying the cool headwaters of Bluff Creek at the confluence with Notice Creek. Relax in the shade among the large Douglas Fir and Cedar trees. To get there from Orleans take the Eyesee Road (15N01), to Cedar Camp Road (12N01), west to (12N13), then south (12N10), to Notice Creek. (T12N, R43, Sec.28). Approximately 30 miles and 1.5 hours travel time.
Le Perron Flat: Offers seclusion within easy access from Orleans with abundant flat open space and shade available. Water source nearby and old hiking trail. To get there from Orleans take Red Cap Road (10N01), to Le Perron Road (10N47), to Le Perron Flat. (T10N, R5E, Sec.20). Approximately 12 miles and 45 minutes travel time.
Blue Lake: A wonderful place to take a picnic lunch and a fishing pole within easy access of Orleans. Blue Lake offers hiking, and solitude in a picturesque setting. To get there from Orleans, take State Highway 96 west to Bluff Creek Road (13N01), travel approximately 9 miles to the first thicket of Cedar trees and look for the road pullout. Approximately 1.5 miles from the intersection with 10N12; T10N, R4E, Sec.15.
Blacks Lake: Looking for the perfect mountain lake that few people ever visit? Black Mtn. Lake offers that opportunity to explore and fish in a remote area within the Trinity Alps Wilderness area. To get there from Orleans, take Red Cap Road (10N01), to Leery Road (10N02), and follow to Mill Creek Gap. Follow Packsaddle Ridge Road southeast approximately 7 miles to T9N, R6E, Sec. 21. At this point you must park and hike over the ridge into Section 22. There are many animal trails to the lake but no maintained trails. Approximately 2.5 mile hike and 1.5 hours.
Whitmore Creek: Located at the confluence of Whitmore Creek and the Klamath River, this special place offers exceptional solitude and easy access off State Highway 96 just 3.5 miles north of Orleans. There is an unimproved road just south of the Whitmore Trail that winds down towards the Klamath River (not advisable for passenger vehicles).
