Siskiyou National Forest

The Siskiyou National Forest also contains five Wild and Scenic Rivers: the Chetco, Elk, Illinois, North Fork of the Smith River, and the Rogue River. The Illinois and Rogue offer whitewater opportunities for both rafters and kayak users. Commercial river outfitters can be hired to guide people safely down the river and provide them with an opportunity to experience the thrill of whitewater. A management plan has been developed for each Wild and Scenic River to help protect the fragile river ecosystems from human development.
