Just as beautiful as Yosemite, but without the crowds," is the general sentiment of those who reviewed Sequoia and Kings Canyon. You'll find some of the world's largest trees, of course, as well as a "fantastic backcountry" that makes bear-spotting a routine occurrence. For hiking, one reader recommends the interior loop through Mist Falls/Rae Lakes/Bubbs Creek. The cross-country options are great, as well.
