Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center
Location: 97 Taneytown Rd., Gettysburg, PA
Hours: Visitors' center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in winter, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in summer, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Gettysburg National Cemetery is open at dawn and closes at sunset.
Fee: Free to enter the park. Fees for electronic map are $3 for adults (17 years and older); $2 for children (ages six to 16 years); $2.50 for senior citizens (62 years and older); children under six years old admitted for free.

Side Trips
Eisenhower National Historic Site
General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th president of the United States, and his wife, Mamie, kept their only home in Gettysburg. Guided tours of the farm, grounds, and house are available. Shuttle buses leave from the National Park Service Visitor Center, (717) 338-9114.
Free Scenic Tours: The Gettysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau has printed free tour maps and brochures for three area tours: the Scenic Valley Tour, the Downtown Walking Tour, and the Conewago Tour.
Hikes: The High Water Mark Trail is one mile long and begins at the Cyclorama. For directions to the Billy Yank Trail (nine miles) and the Johnny Reb Trail (3.5 miles), inquire at the visitors' center.
