San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge

Directions: Located approximately 10 miles west of Modesto on Highway 132 at San Joaquin River. No public access currently exists.

Primary Wildlife: Endangered Aleutian Canada geese. Ducks, sandhill cranes, migratory nongame songbirds. Colonial nesting birds.

Habitat: Approximately 800 acres of San Joaquin River riparian habitat.

Recreation and Education: This refuge is closed to all activity until specifically authorized by the refuge manager.
