L.A. Dog Lover's Escapes

Redlands

Parts of this lush, resort-like town provide a breath of fresh air from smog-ridden and traffic-filled Southern California.

Parks, Beaches, and Recreation Areas

Prospect Park

You'll be surrounded by exquisite views, towering palms, multitudes of orange trees, and flowers everywhere at this enchanting, verdant park. Prospect Park is out of a fairy tale. It's one big hill, with delicate wooden seats overlooking the surrounding orchards. At the top, you'll find an open-air theater, some peacocks, and a resident cat, so be sure to follow the rules and leash your dog. This one's well worth the short trek from Interstate 10. For the most scenic ride, exit the freeway at Orange Street and drive south, through the quaint downtown area. In about seven blocks, bear right at Cajon Street. The park is on your right in about one mile. Park on Cajon Street just after Highland Avenue (just past the orange grove and before the picnic area on your right). Walk back several feet to the wide paved path and embark on your wondrous journey. (909) 798-7509.
