Santa Rosa Wilderness

Located in the San Bernardino National Forest in California.

The 19,800-acre Santa Rosa Wilderness is located in the Santa Rosa Mountains. The area is characterized by rugged, boulder strewn, highly eroded canyons and washes along with valleys and steep cliffs. Vegetation ranges from desert agave, ocotillo and creosote to mountain pinon pine and juniper. The area is unique because of its plants and desert riparian ecosystems. The wilderness ranks high in scenic values. Wildlife within the area includes bighorn sheep. U.C. Deep Canyon Desert Research Station is north of the area. The land surrounding the wilderness is managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
