- A 4.5-mile shuttle hike that shows off the park's rugged interior begins at the pricelessly named Overlooked Falls and follows the Little Carp and Lilly Pond Trails to the junction with Summit Peak Road.
- Skip the drive along the entrance road that leads to the ethereal Lake of the Clouds. Instead, set out from the trail at Cuyahoga Creek for an eight-mile out-and-back (or four-mile shuttle) that gets you equally close.
- In the winter, hop on cross-country skis and try the 5.5-mile trip along the Nonesuch and River trails. This route leads through quiet wooded areas along the Little Union River to an isolated yurt, which you can reserve for overnight stays.
