OREGON
Deschutes National Forest

TERRAIN: Beginning to advanced. Scenic and challenging single-track and double-track roads wind their way through the high Cascade country of central Oregon.
BEST ROUTE: Sparks Lake, Lava Lake, Edison Butte Trail System, Cache Mountain Trail.
GETTING THERE: Many trailheads are located just outside Bend. You'll also find several good trails off the road as you travel south from Bend on Cascade Lake Highway 46.

TENNESSEE
Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area

TERRAIN: Gravel and dirt roads; disused horseback-riding trails and steep, rugged trails that drop into side canyons and gorges.
BEST ROUTE: Duncan Hollow Loop.
GETTING THERE: Northwest of Knoxville. Take Tenn. 92 off US 27.

TEXAS
Sam Houston National Forest
TERRAIN: All ability levels through pine forests.
BEST ROUTE: Double Lake Trail (usage fee required).
GETTING THERE: Head north from Houston to eastern Texas.

UTAH
Moab

TERRAIN: Mostly flat, but the uphills are steep; trail surfaces are sand, gravel, and rock. Jeep trails and some single track.
BEST ROUTE: Gemini Bridges Trail, Porcupine Rim, Amasa Back Trail, Arches National Park loop, White Rim Trail, Slickrock Trail. If you head upcountry to the La Sal Mountains, Warner Lake is a good starting point and Bachelor Basin has scenic trails.
