Routt National Forest

Mountain Biking

A mountain bike is an ideal way to explore the nearly 1.5 million acres of aspen and conifer forests, mountain meadows, and many miles of trails and roads on the Routt National Forest.

Due to normally ample snowfalls, the backcountry isn't usually available for mountain biking until mid to late June. The mountain biking season usually lasts until October when hunting season, cooler weather and early snows make the area less accessible for biking.

From its majestic mountain peaks to its high mountain meadows, the Routt National Forest offers many opportunities for enjoying scenery on a mountain bike. While biking through the forest, think about taking some time to stop to fish, hike, or to just sit back and relax!
