8. The Inn at Brandywine Falls, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio
If you're looking for an intimate overnight experience in a national park but are not into wilderness or crowds, this bed and breakfast in rural Ohio may be just the ticket. The Civil War-era farmstead was renovated in 1988 by an enterprising couple that operates the inn under a 50-year lease from the U.S. government. The property includes the main house, an adjacent carriage barn, and a nearby stable. Cats, chickens, and goats add to the country atmosphere. The inn has six overnight rooms, four in the main house and two in the carriage barn. Each room has its own bathroom. The innkeepers serve a gourmet breakfast each morning. Season: year-round; Rates: $140 to $250 in the main house; $225 to $325 in the carriage barn.
