Lewis and Clark National Forest
The Lewis and Clark National Forest contains nearly 1,700 miles of forest roads. Surfaced roads feature many scenic drives, including the newly designated KINGS HILL NATIONAL SCENIC BYWAY - US Highway 89 through the Little Belt Mountains—a major route between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. Also, Montana Highway 2 travels through the Forest along the southern boundary of Glacier National Park. During leaf color change in the fall, both drives are especially beautiful. Wildflowers abound on the forest, with the peak growing season occurring late spring through mid-summer at higher elevations.
