Inyo National Forest

The Mammoth area has a tremendous variety of hiking trails. It lies at the boundary between the Ansel Adams and John Muir Wildernesses and is a gateway to both. The Minarets, Mt. Ritter, and Banner Peak dominate the skyline west of the town of Mammoth Lakes. At Ediza Lake, the towers loom directly overhead. From the Deer Lakes trail, they form a magnificent vista far in the distance.
