Hoosier National Forest

Lakes & Rivers

Bring your canoe, sailboat, or fishing boat to Indian, Celina, Tipsaw, and Saddle Lakes north of Tell Cityon Highway 37. All have boat ramps. The water isn't crowded, either. Only electric boat motors are allowed.

All four lakes are stocked with bass, crappie, bluegill, redear, and catfish.

Tipsaw Lake - Swimming is convenient at Tipsaw Lake, where you'll find sandy beaches with disabled-accessible wading areas and grassy picnic sites with shelters. A modern bath house has showers, dressing facilities, and restrooms. You'll also find great camping in an uncrowded, natural forest setting. Campsites have surfaced pads, flush toilets, piped water, and showers nearby. Electrical hookups are available for trailers or motor homes. Accommodations for groups up to 100 are available by reservation. Facilities are wheelchair accessible.

Lake Celina - Lake Celina has 63 roomy, convenient campsites (some with electrical hookups) and flush toilets, showers, and picnic sites, too. Facilities are accessible to the disabled.

Indian Lake - If you're interested in peace and quiet, nearby Indian Lake has it. The lake is undeveloped except for a boat ramp and picnic sites... an angler's delight! The hiker will love the 12 miles of loop trails that meander along the wooded ridges, draws, and shoreline between Indian and Celina Lakes.

Saddle Lake - Saddle Lake is another hidden jewel. With only ten campsites it's not crowded, even though it has a picnic sites, a boat ramp, and vault toilets. The shoreline trail is a great place to see birds and other wildlife.

The Ohio River - If you're a bass hunter, don't overlook the Ohio River. Annual bass tourneys produce some real lunkers. Fishing for sauger, catfish, striped and white bass, and crappie is also great. You can launch at Mano Point ramp and camp at nearby German Ridge.
