Smoky Mountains Driving

It's hard to do better than the Blue Ridge Parkway for scenic driving. The southernmost stretch of the parkway, between Asheville and the mountains, boasts high peaks and a climb to 6,047 feet.

It's your chance to drive an historic road: The Ocoee Scenic Byway was the first National Forest Byway in the nation. You'll climb up Chilhowee Mountain to some of the most stunning lookout spots in Tennessee.

Hop on the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway and you'll discover a 61-mile drive that winds through southern Appalachian hardwood forest, two river gorges, and rural countryside.

Take the 79-mile Forest Heritage Scenic Byway loop through Pisgah National Forest and you'll find gorgeous mountain valleys and rural countrysides. The byway is also rich in the history of the early Appalachians exploration.

The Unaka Mountain Auto Tour takes you on a 30-mile loop of the Unaka Ranger District of the Cherokee National Forest. The road takes you through Unicoi County and some of east Tennessee's most beautiful scenery.
