Rough Fork

Rough Fork flows into the main stream near the Palmer Creek Trail starting point. Rough Creek, once known as"Ugly Creek," offers good fishing for rainbow trout.

It is accessible upstream from its mouth via the Old Palmer Chapel Road. The road continues upstream alongside Rough Fork for .9 mile, where it terminates. The Rough Fork Trail lends additional upstream access. The trailhead is located at the end of the road. At 2 miles, the trail arrives at the Big Hemlock backcountry campsite (#40, capacity 10), an excellent fishing camp. The trail continues upstream alongside Rough Fork only a short distance beyond the campsite.

Pretty Hollow Creek

Pretty Hollow Creek flows into the main stream 1.5 miles upstream from the trailhead of the Palmer Creek Trail.

Access: Pretty Hollow Gap Trail
Usgs Quads: Luftee Knob, NC-TN

The Pretty Hollow Gap Trail follows the stream. The trail begins off the Palmer Creek Trail near the mouth of Pretty Hollow Creek, and at .2 mile arrives at the Pretty Hollow backcountry campsite (#39, capacity 20), also known as the Turkey Gorge Horse Camp. The trail continues upstream alongside the stream to the 3-mile mark, at which point it leaves the stream.
