Cast your fly on the Flint (GDITTPL) |
Largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, shellcrackers, bream, and shoal bass energetically swim their way along the Flint River each year, leaping in and out of currents. A free-flowing river teeming with fish, Georgia's Flint River gathers just below Atlanta and makes its way into the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River system. Flyfishing here is an experience to be treasured, as it is rarely crowded—you can wade among the shoals or paddle a canoe for hours in peace. Sprewell Bluff State Park and Big Lazer Creek Wildlife Management Area offer wading access to the Flint, while the town of Woodbury (near Highway 18) would be a prime place to put in your own canoe or boat.
