SNOWY RANGE SKI AREA
The Snowy Range Ski Area's base elevation of 9,000 feet makes it one of the highest ski resorts in the country. Nestled in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest in the Snowy Mountain Range 32 miles west of Laramie, this ski area boasts 27 runs, a 1,000-foot vertical drop, 30% beginner terrain, 40% intermediate terrain and 30% advanced terrain. There is also a terrain park for snowboarders.
HOGADON SKI AREA
Almost in the exact center of the state, Hogadon Ski Area is only 15 minutes from downtown Casper. Open Wednesday through Sunday, Hogadon has a 600-foot vertical drop from its 8,000-foot summit, a terrain park, 19 different runs and 60 groomed acres.
BIG HORN MOUNTAIN RESORT
Directly north of Casper and Hogadon is the Big Horn Mountain Resort. Set in the heart of the Big Horn Range, on the banks of Meadowlark Lake, the Big Horn Mountain Resort is located between Buffalo and Worland. Twenty new downhill runs, including one that is 1.5 miles long, half-pipes, a terrain park, a technical area and snowboard cliffs are accessed by two new chairlifts. Instructors at the BHMR have developed a new technique, "the Big Horn Snowboard Technique," to teach snowboarding in a way that prevents the rider from getting so beat up in the early stages. Three lodges in the area make sure that skiers and snowboarders can get their fill of the area before moving on.
