Climate & Clothing What to Wear: Be prepared for hiking in cool, wet, and windy weather. Wear sturdy shoes with firm ankle support, thick socks, and warm, layered clothing. A hat, mittens, or gloves, and rain gear are essential. Sturdy foot gear, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera are desirable.
Camping & Lodging You can make campsite reservations by phone—800-622-7275 (nationwide) or 907-272-7275 (from Anchorage or foreign countries). Visitors can stay at private lodges within the park. Camp Denali is Denali's original lodge, now a family-owned facility with great views of Mount McKinley. Denali Backcountry Lodge is a wilderness lodge located at the end of the 95 mile park road. The National Park Service-operated hotel near the entrance is slated to be closed. The park is encouraging private development outside the park.
