Regional Guide

Family - Central Colorado and Ski Country

Take in a rodeo! Each summer, you'll find tons of rodeos in this region (check with the Colorado Tourism Board at www.colorado.com for specific dates). One of the best is the Snowmass Village rodeo, where you'll find saddle bronc riding, team roping, bareback riding, barrel racing, and bull riding.

Try some downhilling of a different kind—on an inner tube! The tubing hill in Fraser is a riotously fun, if chilly, way to enjoy the snow. Grab a rope tow lift to the top, hop on your tube, and go crashing down the hill.

Okay, so you won't find solitude on the hike from Maroon Lake to Crater Lake, outside Aspen. But this easy day hike is great for families, with views of the Maroon Bells and Pyramid Peak to inspire the little ones.

It's go-cart time. In the summer, take the kids to Winter Park resort, where you can ride carts down a cement path that snakes down the mountain. Great fun!
