Colorado's Hot Springs Heavens

By Robyn Brewer

Colorado is a state with surprising diversity. With majestic, snow-capped mountains in the west, far-reaching plains in the east, and stark, dry desert in the south, you will find no end to the state's natural wonders. And no matter where you go, you will find a place to camp.

Among Colorado's most pleasurable destinations are its famed hot springs. These pools of warm, soothing water produced by geothermal activity are located throughout the state, although most are found in the western half, where the Rockies stand as the most visible sign of the great geological upheaval taking place. Hot springs have been long praised for their rejuvenating powers, and you will find few more relaxing pleasures than taking a dip in one after a day of hiking, rafting, or skiing.

Here, then, are the Top Ten campsites near Colorado's wonderful hot springs. But don't think that soothing hot waters are all that you'll find — these camps also have beautiful vistas with plenty of opportunity for outdoor activity.
