Kirkland Creek - Trail #85

Difficulty: Moderate
Description: Begins at the mouth of Kirkland Creek on Bald River Road (125) and ends at an old logging road near Sandy Gap. Roadside parking is available.

North Fork Citico Trail - #98
Tellico Ranger District
Length: 5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate with several stream crossings.
Description: Begins at Cherrylog Gap (off Fodderstack Trail #95) and parallels North Fork Citico Creek down to the North Fork Citico Road (FDR #29). Scenic views and waterfalls along the way. Roadside parking at North Citico Road is available. Several campsites are along the trail.

Brush Mountain Trail - #97
Tellico Ranger District
Length: 5.05 miles
Difficulty: Moderate with some steep slopes and stream crossings.
Description: Begins from FDR #217-H and follows the Brush Mountain Ridge before turning west, parallel to Ike Camp Branch for 1.8 miles. It ends at its junction with Trail #105 Roadside parking along South Fork.

Bald River - Trail #88

Length: 5.6 miles
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Begins at Bald River Falls (FDR #210) and follows Bald River to Bald River Road (FDR #126). Trailhead parking is available. Some dispersed camping is also available along the trail.

Sugar Mountain - Trail #90

Length: 5.98 miles
Difficulty: Difficult
Description: This trail begins from the Tellico River Road (210) near Pheasant Field Fishing Site and goes to Tipton Knob Road (24) near Little Bald. Trailhead parking is available at Pheasant Fields.

Unicoi Mountain Trail - #83
Hiwassee Ranger District
Length: 6 miles
Difficult: Easy
Description: This trail leads you over ridges, through hollows, pine woods. and near streams. It connects to the John Muir Trail #152 and close to Coker Creek Trail #183. Dispersed camping is available a short distance from the Junction of trails #83 and #152. Directions: From Etowah, travel east on Mecca Pike (Highway 310) for 13.8 miles to the intersection of Highway 68 in Tellico Plains. Turn right and travel Highway 68 south 16.8 miles to the junction of the trail on the right above gated roads FDR #2135 and FDR #2135A. The trailhead is located on top of a hill and is not easy to see from the road.

Basin Lead - Trail #161

Length: 6.18 miles
Difficulty: Difficult due to steep grades and overgrowth.
Description: Begins from the Tellico River Road (FDR #210) and goes to Bald River Road (FDR #126-2) at Basin Gap. Roadside parking available.

Flats Mountain Trail - #102

Length: 6.22 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Description: Begins at Eagle Gap off Tellico-Robbinsville Road and follows ridge of Flats Mountain before descending to Beehouse Gap on Citico Creek Road (FDR #35-1). Very good views of Indian Boundary Recreation Area and Citico Creek Wilderness. Parking at Beehouse Gap and Eagle Gap.

South Fork Citico Trail - #105

Length: 8.1 miles
Difficulty: Moderate with several stream crossings.
Description: Begins off Strawberry Know Road (FDR #217-H) and goes along South Fork Citico Creek to North Fork Citico Road (FDR #29). Parking on road.

Warriors Pass National Recreation Trail - Trail #164
Tellico Ranger District
Length: 8.1 miles
Difficulty: Easy, but with several stream crossings.
Description: Begins on Waucheesi Mountain Road (FDR #126c) near the Boy Scouts of America dispersed camp and ends at the intersection of Lyons Creek Road (5013) on the Bald River Trail #88. Roadside parking available.

Starr Mountain Trail - #190
Hiwassee Ranger District
Length: 4.8 miles
Description: From the ridge tops this trail offers excellent views of the Etowah area. The trail is easy the beginning and becomes moderately difficult as it ascends along the face of the mountain.
Directions: From Etowah, travel south on Highway 411 to Wetmore. Turn left on County Road 163. Cross railroad tracks and bear right, continuing on to the Forest Boundary and FDR #2014. Proceed to the parking lot (a dead end) and the trail begins near the gate on the right. (This also serves the spur trail 190A.)
