Caribou National Forest

Camping

There are 28 developed campgrounds with 270 family units. These campgrounds vary in scenic atmosphere and type of facilities. Most are located in wooded areas with good access roads. Fees are charged at campgrounds that have more highly developed facilities.

Guard Station Rentals
The Caribou National Forest used to have small fire crews stationed around the Forest to look for wildfires and be close in responding. These people were called Fire Guards and stayed at the Guard Stations. Today, these stations are available to the public for rent or, in some cases, in exchange for maintenance work. They sleep from four to eight people, some have water and all are located in beautiful areas of the Forest.
