Lowman Area

Rock Creek Trail

ACCESS: Parking is available at the Whoop-Um-Up parking area (Park-n-Ski Fee area), or at the Edna Creek Campground (no fee).

NARRATIVE: To get to the Rock Creek trail, you must start on the Edna Creek trail across from the Whoop-Um-Up Parking area. Travel the Edna Creek trail, which is 5 miles in length to Five Corners. There you connect with the Rock Creek trail, which takes you into Lowman. The trail is 12 miles long. In Lowman you may connect with other trails that go to Stanley. This trail is groomed.

Clear Creek Trail

ACCESS: Parking is available at plowed parking areas in Lowman.
USGS MAP: Lowman

NARRATIVE: This trail will take up Clear Creek Road into Bear Valley. Once in Bear Valley there are many play areas. Elk may be seen in the lower elevations. The trail follows the Bear Valley Road FS #582 up beyond Bruce Meadows and then takes you back to Highway 21 in the Challis National Forest. The trail will take you to Stanley in approximately 4 hours.

Bear Valley Trail

ACCESS: Parking is the same as for the Clear Creek Trail.

NARRATIVE: The trail takes off from the Clear Creek Trail up in the Bear Valley area. Take Road #579 and follow it as far as you would like. When you get to Landmark/Deadwood Road #555, it's as far as most go. The road going north has potential avalanche areas and is not recommended for travel.
