The road to Story outside of Sheridan |
This 14-mile out-and-back road ride (28 miles total) follows Highway 87 south out of Sheridan. The highway has a good shoulder with moderate traffic. After four miles, turn left (south) at the fork to stay on Highway 87.
An alternate route goes straight on Highway 331 and, after seven miles, comes to the Bradford Brinton Memorial, where a historic ranch and art collection displays over 600 oils, watercolors, and sketches by American artists.
Back on the main route, the road curves south on Highway 87, a ribbon of asphalt between rolling hills and green hay meadows. What starts as an easy ride turns into a slightly more difficult one as the route approaches the mountains.
After 10 miles, turn right (west) on Highway 193. Continue a little more than two miles before turning right again on Highway 340. After another mile, you'll enter the community of Story.
